Oh, I can very well see why someone would like to video tape their suicide. I think one of the allures to suicide isn't just to 'end it all' but to 'prove your pain.' Nothing proves the extent of your pain to the people who know you and the rest of the world as showing them what you would do just to end it.
I believe it's the mentality involved in ridiculing suicide that drives depressed individuals to 'prove' what they've been through in a way they couldn't do alive.
I'm happy you're teaching your children to be empathetic!
