The SUPEREGO is your inner parent: warning, controlling, but trying to look after your long-term interests.

From what I've seen of you, you have a powerful id but a fairly weak superego. You tend to rely on others to look out for you long-term and to moderate your impulses.

Without your wife, you have no one to put things in perspective, to comfort and reassure you, to stop you form doing stupid things.

The id and the superego often pull in opposite directions: that's their job. But you also have an inner adult, the EGO, which is supposed to decide between them on a case-by-case basis.
