I know this topic was posted not that long ago but, I couldn't find it. Hope it's ok to start a new thread about recording sessions.

I would like to start by saying. I am able to record my sessions with T. I started Therapy last September and after a few sessions I realized that by the time I got home I was only able to remember less then half of what we had talked about that day, because I dissociate a lot in therapy, and to be completely honest, my memory sux.

So after a few weeks, with great intrepidation, I asked T if it was okay to record our sessions, and to my surprise she said yes. I really thought she was going to say no, but I knew if I was going to get anything out of therapy, I had to at least ask.

Being able to record each session has helped me learn so much about the child within and also of coarse about my different dx's. I love being able to hear the entire session in the calm and privacy of my home, and when I am having a really hard time of it. It helps to be able to hear her voice without having to call her, during her busy day....I'm sure she can appreicate that. (I do have the option to call her, but sometimes I don't hear back from her for a day or two) So being able to hear her soothing voice on my recorder, has helped me on some tough to get through days.

I sometimes hear myself saying things I wish I had not said during a particular session or at least had worded differently. So hearing myself from another persons prospect has also been a great educational tool for me.
I am so greatful to be able to record my sessions because all those pearls of wisdom my therapist speaks, would be lost forever, if I were not able to record them. (((((((my T )))))))
