Sounds like recording your sessions and being able to review them is really helpful to you. That is great.

I've never had the desire to record my sessions. It actually just doesn't cross my mind. And I am like you; I often only remember portions of my sessions so perhaps it would be helpful. But there is something about the idea of being recorded, even if I initiate it, that I suspect would be inhibiting to me, like I would be self-conscious of doing a good job. I think that may come from my only experiences of being recorded were performances where getting the best product was the goal.
