The number of posts doesn't affect entering chat.

However, when trying to go into chat there's a link you can click to download the latest version of java. I had to do that before I could "sit" for more than one min. in a chatroom.

I don't know if a pop-up blocker would be an issue here, but it was at another site for me as well.

Also, if you have a firewall, it could be allowing you to view the site but preventing you from chatting.

I would first turn off my firewall just to see if that's it. If so, you can adjust your settings there. If that doesn't work, then I'd download the latest java.
