I couldn't care less what my T wears. It makes no difference to me whether she's donned in business attire or a tank top and shorts. It has no bearing on my therapy experience. I suppose, if I were a new client shopping around for a therapist, I would be looking for someone who looked/behaved professionally. I would want to know that she is competent and takes her job seriously. But, now that I've been working with my T for 2 years, her wardrobe is of no importance to me. After all, she seems me waltz into therapy in tank tops and skirts (96 degrees!) so, if she were dressed similarly, I'd say she has every right!
How does she actually dress? Generally, she wears business casual. Her style of dress can best be described as "typical therapist." It looks like she shops at Eileen Fisher. Basic cuts, neutral colors, long, flowy layers. Overall, she dresses fairly conservatively. Appropriate for a woman in her mid-40s. She doesn't show cleavage and her skirts (as far as I can remember) are just above the knee length or longer. However, she does wear sleveless shirts and dresses. She has athletic arms so they look appropriate on her. I don't know if it's intentional or not but she dresses in such a nondescript way that it takes attention away from her/her appearance and lets the attention go to other things. Oh, you know, like the way I dress. j/k. Though, in all honestly, I would say my wardrobe is much more exciting!
