I have had therapy (covered by insurances) several different times, and at NO time was I told I could NOT discuss ANY issue whatsoever!!!  Anything was open for discussion!!! This idiot of a therapist is crazy in my book, and it seems to me like you should be looking for another.
How DARE she tell you that you cannot discuss certain things!!! Particularly something as serious as a loved one who has a serious illness! Of course that would affect you and your emotions! Is she nuts or something? I have to wonder where she got her license to practice!
Please look for another therapist. I have had to change therapists in the past due to "issues." So don't feel bad for doing so. This is for your own good. Your new therapist will get your records from this one. God bless and please take care! Hugs, Lee
