10mg is a very low dose. It works for some at that dose, but it sounds like you could use 20mg a dose (2 or 3x/day). You should try to ask your doc if you can see him weekly while you're titrating (adjusting) the dose-- otherwise, you're stuck with a dose or med that doesn't work, and you just have to wait until the next appointment.

But one thing I advise is to consider taking a step back and questioning your expectations for this drug. It does sound like it is doing something, but you expect it to give you superhuman strength. It can't do work for you, and you will still be distractable at any dose. All it can do is reduce the severity of symptoms you will need to find additional ways of coping with and accepting besides just taking medicine for it.

My doc, when I told him I couldn't write a paper one night while on my doee, so I doubled tbe dose-- he said people with ADD can't always expect to get everything done perfectly and never have problems (no one can). Instead, they take their medicine as prescribed, and accept that sometimes, they won't be able to get everything they want to get done. It was comforting to realize so many other people with ADD also manage to accept they can't be perfect, and appreciate what limits they have, and are okay with that as long as they know they tried their best.

I think it's also important to appreciate the fact you haven't be tempted to take the drug in an unorthodox manner, and instead are being patient with it. Keep sticking to that-- you don't want to get in the habit of telling yourself you know better than your doctor, because that will cause trouble.

You may benefit from a higher dose, but you won't need to go much higher-- 20mg, I think, is what you're on by now, right? I wouldn't go above 20mg, and it seems like you might just benefit from dosing it 3x/day.

You might also want to try Vyvanse, once you find the dose that works well for you with Adderall. Vyvanse works all day, so I just take a single pill in the morning, and don't have to think about it again. Your doctor can convert the dose of Adderall you're taking to the dose that works for Vyvanse by reading the convert chart at vyvanse.com.
