I like kids, but not all kids. And I'll say or do something if I see them about to step into danger, but I'm not taking responsibility for someone else's kids. Most parents, IMO, are cool with you stepping in when their child is in physical danger, but when it comes to mental or emotional danger, they make sure you know the child is their child and how dare you tell them how to parent their child???
And I'm fine with that, even though if they raise a brat, that could affect me and mine when the kid gets older. When a kid is spoiled and undisciplined, he grows up to be an adult who is spoiled and undisciplined.
While it's good of MySpace and any other site to do things to protect kids, I've said it before and I'll keep saying it--parents have the most power to protect their kids, and most of these kids that end up in danger from the Internet wouldn't end up there if parents were doing their jobs. There are exceptions, but from what I've seen, it's the vast majority of cases that could have been prevented by parental supervision. If you don't want to be a parent--meaning taking responsibility for your children--then don't become one!
