Thanks for this thread. It helps to know not alone in doing this. I definitely talk to the animals. But then I noticed I have been doing it more lately that has nothing to do with them, especially when stressed and somewhat compulsive. It used to be just when alone but have been catching myself doing more when with others. It helps to think out loud sometimes to sort through things but other times, it just feels like relief to get the thoughts out of my head.
