First, let me say, I am not a dietician. But, based on what I've read--and I recommend you do some investigating yourself--it's a good idea to cut those things out of your diet, because they all convert into sugar, and sugar is in almost everything these days, even things you wouldn't think it's in. Much of our food is processed, and it's really not the best thing for us.

If you consume sugar, it would be good to cut down on that, too. You don't need to cut out those foods altogether; that's up to you. But it's very good to cut down if you eat a lot of them. I eat way too much sugar, and should do the same. Eating more fruits and vegetables is almost always a good thing. Make sure you wash them well first!
