This is true. You can work yourself into a panic attack just by worrying too much that you will have a panic attack.
What usually brings one on? Or are they seemingly random events at this point? Planning what to do in case of one is practical, but what makes you so sure you will have one on this particular night? Sitting up all night in the waiting room while your husband has a sleep test is likely to cause more problems than it will solve. Sleep deprivation, worrying about an episode, and the unfamiliar and stressful surroundings may all combine to bring one on. Then what?
Does your pdoc know about these, and can't you get some meds, even if it is a one time dose for this particular night?
