I don't know what to advise Kathryn, I wish I did. My ADHD son is only 8 and consequences of his actions are all but lost on him. What he emotionally and responsibly accepts as his action on one day will not matter in the slightest the next. Forgotten. Poof!

Your husband did the right thing. We would have done the same. But it is very tough when it is our own children that are doing the very things that the parents need to 'fix'.

I am all for natural consequences but have also found that in some instances, putting my child through the emotional trauma of that consequence is close to torture. And so I help ....

It is a never ending circle.

I truly do understand not remembering consequences ... my son does it to me every single day.

It is hard to stay strong, but our children are just that ... our children, so we stay strong for them no matter what.
