Psychosis can in some people mimic the same symptoms as dissociative disorders.. the way to tell the difference is by the diagnostic criteria. here in america all mental disorders have diagnostic criteria that defines mental disorders from each other.

in the diagnostic book treatment providers in america use for the diagnostics of psychotic disorders hallucinations and delusions are part of the diagnostics where as the diagnostics for depersonalization does not include hallucinations and hearing voices.
