Sometimes listening to my mix of meditation, awareness, hypnotherapy playlist helps me take my mind off. What also helps me is keep busy and doing something like washing dishes, working in the garden or exercising.
When I'm not at home and feel very anxious, I try to talk myself through it - telling myself that its going to pass - and try to focus on something else like a good memory, counting down from 1000 or solving simple math exercises.
