That's a VERY good question that is, and should be, reviewed once in a while!

The guidelines state: * Messages containing suicidal threats or suicidal actions.

I'll try to explain, through my past experiences here, that guideline a bit more fully.

A member can't, according to guidelines for the emotional safety of other members, post suicidal intent/threat anywhere on the forums. If feeling suicidal, please seek immediate help close to you (i.e. call 911, therapist, doctor, family member, any person that can help you when you feel you feel you can't possibly) Also, according the the guidelines, a member can't post information/detail/etc. regarding past, present or future suicide attempts (i.e. graphic detail of actions taken).

Examples of posting within guidelines regarding suicide would be discussing dealing with suicidal ideation with depression (without detail regarding action), or gaining support for a loved one/friend's attempts or ideation.

It can be confusing to try to maintain this guideline, especially when feeling suidical. I so appreciate the question to review once again.

To specifically answer your question. You could discuss the fact that there has been past attempt(s) and the effects on your life, relationships, what got you through, etc.; just about anything excepting detail of the attempt itself or intent regarding present/future. It would be against guidelines to discuss specifics regarding actions taken during the attempts.

If you have any further questions specifically, don't ever hesitate to PM me to check what you'd like to post prior to posting, or just to ask a general question.

Thanks!

KD
