Maybe you could do an internet search on a drug called Welchol. It binds with the cholesterol resins in the stomach and is not absorbed nor metabolized by the liver. It is not a statin. When it first came out it was ng nightmare but now it comes in a powder ( clear, not gritty, mix with anything) and is taken once a day. There are also discount coupons available. It was made for patients who cannot tolerate the statins. Hope that helps.
