I got hospitalized and resuscitated a couple of days after my birthday when I drank to cope with not only my bipolar...but the anniversary of my granddad's death and a few other discrepancies I'd rather not get into. I spent about £130 (around 202 dollars) in 4 hours on alcohol in a few pubs. I was drinking to forget.
The near death experience didn't stop me. I was an alcoholic for two months. I became a totally different person; my bipolar spiralled out of control and I lost a lot of friends.
Now I drink only one day of the week, and that's out with friends. I'm a recovered alcoholic, but I can still enjoy that once-weekly social drinking session.
