[quote=wpony;2449316]Hello I am going to try and get into the dr tomorrow and I am worried about what kind of meds is the best to start on with the least side effects for depression? is there one to stay away from thanks George[/quote
Hi George,
I actually joined this chat/blog to get help with SSRI discontinuation syndrome from a drug called Effexor. I'm on a very low dose 37.5 mg per day, but am very drug sensitive. I've been prescribed several antidepressants over 18 years and two nervous breakdowns. I would like to suggest you bring the drug Pristiq to your doctor's attention, it's fairly new with limited side effects both getting started as well as discontinuing. I'm having an awful time with withdrawal symptoms after years of Effexor, my physician actually had me move to a low dose of Pristiq (50 mg per day) taken in conjunction with my Effexor to help me taper down off Effexor and minimalize the potential withdrawal symptoms. We have to revisit how quickly I'm tapering in hopes of lessoning my adverse symptoms, namely vertigo/dizziness, confusion and agitation/anger issues I'm having. It's all normal for the length of time I've been on meds., it just needs to be tweaked. Nonetheless, I commend you for making the decision to get your physician involved with your situation. There is help out there once you educate yourself and advocate as much as you can. And the best part there is hope for a better future. Good luck and God bless!!!
