I just found out that the nagging pain above my heel is tendonitis of my achilles. It hurts really bad and the doc said to use heat for 15 minutes, stretch, then use ice for 15 minutes. He told me to come back in 4 weeks if it doesn't heal and he may have to do an injection of cortizone. He said that one drawback to that is that it could cause the achilles tendon to rupture. I am terrified of that happening so I am doing everything he says to do.

Has anyone had experience with tendonitis in their achilles? What are some ideas of tapes, changing shoes, etc? There are sooo many recommendations on the web, but I can't afford to just try something and hope it works only to find out that I have to shell out more money to try something else.

Thanks,
