This probably isn't much help - I always wear long pants and skirts in public to hide my scars. I used to work outside so have lots on various scars on my arms so the SI scars kinda get lost in the rest.
I've seen ads for some kind of cream you can use on scars to minimize/eliminate them. You can buy it over the counter in drug stores. I don't know if it works, but it might be worth trying.
