I absolutely will not take any more cats. I now have a policy that unless they walk up starving and really need me, then I'm good with the ones I have. It's really easy to slip into the "what's one more" mentality.

I have learned to keep the pet to human ratio set such that I might have a fighting chance should things go horribly horribly wrong.

I hopeful that I will not have to or want to stay with this new guy for long. However, he is very important right now.
