Sure sorry you've got such a bad case. There is no such thing as an 'easy' case of bipolar, but I can't even imagine having the kind of issues you're describing. I'm wondering if you've tried any of the newer, more experimental treatments like trans-magnetic stimulation (TMS), or ECT for the intractable symptoms? It seems like there has to be something more for you out there so that you don't have to live like this.

I'm older too, will be 54 in a few months and was just diagnosed w/ BP this past winter, so there's no age limit to this crap is there? Anyway, welcome to the 'family' and I hope you enjoy posting here.
I was diagnosed back in 1997 by a good Jewish doctor after a manic episode that led to 5 assault and battery charges on 5 officers at the same time. Anyway, I was taken straight to the hospital psych ward instead of jail since my wife walked up and said she thought I was bipolar. So here I am in 2012 with my bipolar 1 diagnoses, but out a prison and sober thanks to my higher power. I am on and off my meds so much I sometimes lose track of the whole med thing, but my wife helps me out and gets it all back in order for me again, bless her heart. :-)

I have nothing to offer anyone here save for my own experiences with BP1 over the years and I hope I can help as much as be helped. hugs
