Des, some of the world greatest painters have been OLD men! You're NEVER too old to let your child express itself! Yes, it is therapeutic because you're satisfying the inner child and helping her express herself! There are books and stuff of poetry (ours, for one) and pictures/paintings done by people with mental health issues. They're amazing!! Look at Van Gough! He was "nuts" and his paintings are magnificent!

Keep on keepin' on! You can see that you're developing your talent! Keep going! One day we might all be buying painting or sketches by "Desirae"!!
