Do you think you're getting anxiety when you're talking to people? It makes you blank out, your thoughts slip and you end up not making sense.
Can you give us a specific example of your comment and the people's reaction so we could have a better understanding of your situation? Is it impulsion? Is it because you can't find the right words?
We don't see intent clearly online; we don't see people's facial expression or body language, just words - and this makes interpretation difficult.
Could it be that you strongly have your beliefs on controversial topics, and you're just trying to be persuasive? while they have theirs so in some cases, logic can't make one right or wrong, it depends.
It seems you compare yourself to the less fortunate for a reason to live happy, I really feel like this isn't the best way to cope. Comparing of any kind is not beneficial when one thinks like that, I try to avoid saying "Think of the children in Africa". It's hard since we live in a mass media influenced society. Your life isn't based on what people have or don't have - or who you're related to or who you know or what others think of you. Live your life at your own pace, nobody teaches you that really, can I ask how old are you?
