That woman was a WITCH with a "B". I'm sorry you were treated so shabbily! She has been in that "business" way too long! She has grown cold and insensitive to peoples' needs and she just doesn't care anymore. It's really SAD. 
I think I'd want to talk to that woman's supervisor and TELL them the way I was treated! People shouldn't have to go thru that when they are already in CRISES!!! To be made to feel so unworthy and assuming is rotten and then to cut you to pieces is even worse. This woman needs her comeuppance -- a talk with her supervisor might do the trick! 
I hope and pray that you find something else soon. Talk with Social Services if you haven't already and see what ELSE can be done. There has got to be more that is offered. God bless and please keep us posted, ok? Hugs, Lee
