one day, about five years ago, i was living on the ranch (daughter coming off H) and i had a lot of box turtles that i had picked up on the roads. i'm always afraid they will get hit.
i had two older momma terrapins in one flowerbed and i had found a young male that day. i put him in with the two mommas. he sat there for the longest time and finally, his shell started to slowly open. he opened it up about one inch, but held his head back inside. then the sweetest thing happened.....one of the older mommas crawled over to him and bent her head down and looked inside at his face. she stayed there for a few seconds and he opened his shell all the way up and slowly stuck his head out. they touched noses and she crawled off............
that's what we all need......someone that will look in, when we're hiding. love, pat
