First, thanks for the reply!.

I don't know what causes the extra saliva thing either. I've had this off and on for years. I'm not drooling or anything and it's usually much more noticable when I'm eating but it's still one more symptoms I have to worry about.

I had been diagnose with GERD, Gastritis, IBS and Lactose Intolerance a long time ago. I took Prevacid. They also did an endoscopy and colonoscopy on me and removed some benign polyps. I'm almost 50 and have had all kinds of stomach issues since I was a teen. I had the barium swallow when I was younger (yuk!). Not fun .

Keep in touch. It would be great talking with you again.

Are you working with a gastroenterologist? I have GERD as well, which wasn't diagnosed until I developed esophagitis. The ER just put me on some mediocre med that didn't work at all to relieve my pain. The pain was incredibly intense. I couldn't eat or drink a thing without bending over in misery! A horrible time.

Thankfully, a specialist doctor of mine called a GI in the same clinic to get help immediately from a GI. They did an upper endoscopy, which showed the inflamation in my esophagus from the acid reflux. That's when I was put on protonix, twice/day for a few months which allowed my esophagus to heal. Since then, I've continued to take one protonix daily. Although my daily diet is limited to avoid triggers, my bed is at an upward angle, etc, I still have GERD symptoms & need to take the med to avoid flare-ups.

Personally, my GERD stems from the esophagus, which they say is pretty rare. Most symptoms that affect people with typical cases are skipped by me. Instead, my clue is frequent laryngitis& occasional regurgitation ~ but that's about it.

I'd highly recommend getting in to see a GI doctor. It's a l-o-n-g wait usually, but it's worth it. The time is going to pass by anyway. The sooner that you get in, the better. I wish you the best.
