Yeah Amanda Louise I guess what your saying is correct and yes Tommy had PTSD but one could argue that his core chose not to live in the world via his senses and in a sense an alter was helping him through it.
Especially when Jack Nicholson's character is assessing him and in that song his eyes react to light but he does not see you... I would argue that it sounds a wee bit dissociative maybe not at the level of a DID
My fave song at times is I'm free I love the imagery in it and at times I feel this way on a good day.
