If they're still red, make sure if they're exposed to light that you are wearing sunscreen.
Sunlight and scars are mortal enemies. If the scars are bumpy, that will never go away.
You'll either have to get used to wearing shirts that cover them or to people looking.
I've had scars on my arm for almost a decade and people still stare.
