This is an interesting, though kind of open-ended question. Do you mean at a certain age, like over 50, 60, 70 and beyond, or are you asking about youngsters?

I am 61, and have lost the desire to seek a mate, or even to date. I am wondering if this is hormonal? or due to the debacles of my dating experiences after my divorce at 47. I do think when we are young, we are driven as biological animals to "pair bond," but this does not mean we can't have meaningful relationships as we age. I just no longer have the energy for it. I'd rather spend my energy on my other interests, which give me a lot more satisfaction and peace of mind.
