My hubby had his first, me, at 23. a bit late, but that was mostly because he takes relationships of all types VERY seriously. He's had friends who are girls, but none who were girlfriends. Sometimes it just doesn't work out until you gain a little maturity, self confidence, or just meet the right one. My guy knew girls, but needed someone he felt understood him and he could understand.
