Hey...had written you a longer reply yesterday when the power went off here. As I understand it, the script (.js) calls for a PHP function.... the popup where you edit your updated status. If you have javascript enabled and the script isn't calling the PHP function then it doesn't seem like it could be a problem with the javascript. I don't know what is causing it though. Maybe a plug-in, add-on, or OS setting conflict. I see that Fooze posted in your other thread. Fooze is pretty good at resolving this kind of problem. Knows a lot more about the way this site works than I do.
Do you have other browsers you can try. SR Iron is a very small and light weight browser you could try. You could also try FF in safe mode running w/o add-ons and plugins. Maybe use one of those methods to access the site long enough to update your status and then go back to your normal browser and settings.
One more suggestion until you get this sorted out: put "I am hopeful" in your signature
