You have mentioned that your depression is recurring. I would encourage you to talk to your doc or a therapist if you have not already done so. It may be that you would benefit from medication or cognitive behavioral therapy.
Depression is great a messing with our thoughts and our feelings. In the midst of an episode, it is very difficult to change how we are thinking or feeling. The only thing that we do have control over is our actions. So, set some small goals to get your child off to kindergarten, the action part of the equation.
