I know how you feel. I'm 20 now, but a few years ago we had to put down a cat, who had ALWAYS been in the family, since before I was born (she was 21 when she was put down). I'm now facing that grim possibility with our family dog and another cat. Its not pleasant, I'm so sorry that you found out about everything quite like that. *hugs*

I'm afraid I don't have any advice about how to help your father, but I wish you the best in dealing with all these things.
