I'm not sure what your actual technique of SI is, but mine is constantlyyyy picking any tiny imperfection on my arms and legs. It's very hard to restrain myself sometimes, because it does seem to ease my anxiety. What I have tried doing is substituting the technique I use with a less harmful technique. Like snapping a rubber band on your wrist or holding a piece of ice to your wrist till you can't take it anymore. Obviously this is not a permanent solution, but it has gotten me through otherwise worse situations. You still get the temporary pain but not the lasting scars or effects.
