Hi! I have manic depression, PTSD, thyroid disorder and am in perimenapause. I'm glad you have a doc that is looking at your body as a whole. When I found a doc that did that, the help I recieved was great! As far as mood stabalizers making you not feel, that has never been my experience. My moods are just more "normal" now. When I get angry, I don't flip out. When I feel sad, I don't usually have to crawl under the covers. The speedy mania feeling is gone. The out of control feeling is gone. I still think I'm moody, but it's more just my personality than my bi-polar :-)
Good luck to you. It may take some time for them to get everything straight but it sounds like you're on the right path.
