WOW is right they have improved just in the past 4 years since I had to wear mine. Mine has the straps. but has nothing in the front and a wide metal bar going up the two sides. and a metal and rubber bottom. I have a felt cover that fits on my foot and leg (wrap around stick together with velcroe kind of thing) and then slip my foot into the metal frame and pull the strips tight to hold the metal frame on. What I liked about mine is that my normal sneakers fit into the frame so that if I wanted two I could instead of wearing the felt lining wear my sneakers and put my foot sneaker and all into the frame.
