Isn't it possible to "fool" the site into thinking you have a desktop and not displaying the mobile site? I don't mind if it's not optimized for a phone and you have to scroll everywhere: I know one vBulletin board without a mobile option at all and one with both options.
I'm assuming there's a line of code that checks your browser and thus offers up the correct version for you: wouldn't it be possible to, say, press a button that would override that check?
Sorry if I'm underestimating the work involved.
On the subject of phones, I'd heard of BlackBerry, and here it is.

It is less powerful compared to the competition, has a smaller selection of apps, and frustrates me to hell at times, but I do like other things about it, like the keyboard (although I prefer the one on the Bold).
