I have been on seroquel big time for about the last 2 years. My pdoc just had me take a blood test to check out how it is effecting me & luckily nothing showed up. The level I am taking is usually about 600mg at night in order to sleep without the horrible nightmares from the trauma I went through. Then I end up taking 100mg a few times a day when I can't seem to control my anxiety attacks.

I am the person that has horrible side effects & allergies to almost every drug, especially drugs from my pdoc, so when I found this working, I feel very lucky. I was praying that my blood test wouldn't show up anything......besides diabetes, it also can cause your colestrol level to increase also....which we all know what that does.

It is important for your pdoc to make sure that your normal Dr does the blood tests to check up on the possible side effects.....they usually work together that way....or like me...I ended up going to the outpatient place at our local hospital for the blood test & had them fax the result to my pdoc. It is very important to keep track of things like this...you don't want any surprises later.

I was talking to my psychologist yesterday....he was saying that one of his olderpatients (over 90 years old....wow). He was having problems with glaucoma & it turned out that the AD med he was taking had that as a side effect. It is important to know even the least possible side effects to a med because those are the ones that end up biting you.

I know I took a med for asthma & ended up loosing my voice......I researched it after getting out of the hospital & found out that the med can swell up the throat on about 1 % of the people taking it.....I was one of the lucky 1 %.....so I know I have to watch out for side effects & allergies & so do all of my Dr's....they know how sensitive I am to all meds & it is really scarry.

Make sure your pdoc is having you monitored at least 1 time per year to watch for any changes....take care.....I found seroquel to be a great med to handle my symptoms from the PTSD that happened over the last few years.
