I applied in February of 2010, was approved finally in February 2011 and received my first check in April 2011. For most people it can take up to 2 years. If you are initially denied you appeal and wait for a hearing which can take over a year to get. I sure hope you don't have to go through that. It is horrible I had no income for all that time...my prayers will be with you!

If you request a hearing what you can do is write a letter of hardship to the judge that will preside over your case. They will get you in for a hearing a lot faster that way.
