Yes, a disappointment--if you have a sensitive nature--can trigger a depressive episode, but you do have the ability to modify it until it dissipates.

Use your thinking cap to reduce the intensity of the pain of feeling rejected. Was his excuse valid? Is it important to the economy of the home life? Does he generally keep appointments with you?

If the answers to these questions are yes, then you should make yourself relax by meditating or reading something relaxing.
