I know some times it may seem odd to some-- but crafting-- specifically knitting (i use a board but I want to learn to use the sticks) and crocheting seem to help at times with "letting things settle in my mind, or accepting things".... journal writing has helped a lot too but it is not always a savior but it can help out so much as well........ I am not sure if I am off the topic of what you are mentioning with pacing.. walking sometimes helps me, rather than to stew over things some times* other times, walking does nothing for me....
time, some times, it is just time to help things...
I am glad that you have found a more fitting way of pacing for your self not only mentally but physically as well it sounds like.
