Being respectful, in my opinion like it or not, is about being able to read a differing opinion and not instantly post a knee-jerk reactive reply towards the poster instead of the opinion. I've gotten really good at reading, replying, previewing, and canceling a post. If a mod steps in and says take it to PM, then that's what I'm going to do. If I have a problem with a poster, I contact a mod with my concerns before put them on ignore.
As many times as it's been said, there are numerous ways to keep ourselves from being triggered. If you feel like you could be triggered on any particular day, maybe the best thing to do is not enter the forums. I know there have been days (occasionally weeks) where I've had to take a break because I felt worse after coming here. I know I'm not the only one who's been in that situation.
