Some people use terms of endearment habitually, without putting any thought behind it. I realize that and try to just ignore it. It's just a habit (and often a southern thing that you run into in these parts), and I myself can roll into it quite easily if I put my southern thing on. But it would seem completely unnatural and odd coming out of my T's mouth.
