Hi Littlefish. I certainly am not intending to offend you, but this is NOT a question for unqualified strangers on a support site, or for that matter your friend, unless they are a doctor ~psychiatrist....who happens to be treating you. I mean of course people can share their personal experiences with meds, but for anyone to offer advice about your course of treatment would be inappropriate. If you are suffering from depression, or think you are, and you are wondering if you should be taking antidepressants....TALK TO A DOCTOR!! Only a physician (MD) can prescribe any kind of medication.....a psychologist ~counselor ~therapist can not do this. However, in addition to any meds a doctor may prescribe, he or she CAN refer you to a therapist. Just to clarify, while you CAN choose to see a psych professional without having a physician involved, if you were thinking about meds a doctor would have to be a part of your treatment plan. Wishing you all the best.....
