Littlefish asked for our experience, so I'm certainly going to give her MINE.

I started with therapy, and had several sessions, and my therapist sent me to my doctor to put me on an antidepressant cause I was severely depressed. Then I went BACK to the therapist and continued with therapy, which did me alot of good! I've been depressed since I was a small child, so I've been on antidepressants for almost 40 years, and they're worked great for me. Some antidepressants have worked better than others.

You have to remember that most A/Ds take 6 weeks to begin working. The only one I know of that doesn't take that long is Cymbalta, and that takes between 2-3 weeks to start working. You have to be patient and wait for them to work -- you can stop taking them because you get tired of waiting. That could cause some serious probems.

So talk with your doctor about these medications. See what he has to say about putting you on them. He might have a different idea about it. Best of luck and take care. Hugs, Lee
