My t is certified in sand play therapy, which I have found to be really cool when I play in the sand. She has a sand tray, it's waterproof so you can play with wet sand or dry sand. And she has shelves and shelves and shelves full of little miniature everything you can imagine - that you use to create a "world" in the sand that represents whatever your inner world is at that moment. I have to admit I felt stupid the first time she had me do it, I kept saying that over and over LOL but she kept saying "just go with it. as adults we need to remember how to play." and stuff like that. Anyway I've done I think 8 or 9 sand trays now and I love the process, the last couple times I was giddy as a little kid I swear, dancing between the shelves and the sand.... lol....I even wrote my own analysis of one of the most recent ones. Don't know if your t does sand play, but it's one example of play therapy that I have found very freeing, relaxing and helpful in understanding what's sometimes goin on inside my head.
