For me, sparring is a combination of exercise, stress release and means to improve socialization. The first and second are probably self-explanatory. The third is important for me as I'm on good terms with all the people I spar with and since the dojo isn't terribly large, I tend to spar the same people over and over. For example, if I see a technique used in MMA, action-stunt movies, in the dojo or where ever else, sometimes I'll try it out when sparring to see if it's effective for me. The end result is I can share with everyone else where I saw it and perhaps they also saw it, so we can discuss how effective it was for us, how we liked the MMA match, movie, etc... .

I don't spar for money since I currently already hold a job and coming to work battered and bruised wouldn't be a good thing . Assuming I didn't have a job, I still wouldn't spar for money as it's just a side-interest, it's not something I can see myself doing to make a living or even want to do to make a living. Bludgeoning someone to give what I want doesn't satisfy me in that I didn't earn it legitimately. If I want it, I should put myself to see if I can earn it. If not, then oh well, I move on and may even congradulate the person.

In the dream, Mark Henry was a heel in real life. The trait I cant handle that he displays is his incredible strength. In real-life, I identify mostly with his determination, given he has been in the WWE/WWF for 10+ years but has won only a few titles. If I were in his shoes, I would consider whether it would be worth while to continue as there's limited success but he chooses to continue and I find that admirable.

To give some context, while I was completing my Bachelor's, I was looking around on various job websites and there weren't that many jobs that I was qualified for. Two of my best friends were 2 years behind me and they chose an area that I really liked, however, I was in my 4th year and couldn't abandon everything I worked for. I decided to see if perhaps I could land a job but for months nothing was happening. I delved into studying computer science (which is what they were studying) on my own time and found that I enjoyed it quite a lot, to the point where I'm going to earn my 2nd degree in that area. On the other hand, if Mark were in my shoes, I imagine that he would continue to try and prevail without getting an additional degree. For me, my passion is split into both areas, but I imagine for Mark, it isn't.
