I get the same way at times. My therapist taught me to look at it as a "clue" that something is going on within. So, I take time to breathe and try and figure out which emotions I am feeling. When it is too hard, I hold an ice cube. It takes my focus off the mental and physical pain my emotions cause me for a moment.
